Last year @jigsawdance performed at the Kings Langley Christmas carols as we do every year. It was at these carols that my daughter Isla used her very own money to buy some raffle tickets in the ‘make a wish’ raffle. The girls prize was a wonderful new purple bike.
To Isla’s delight she found out later that she had won the prize. We contacted the raffle sponsor Elders Real Estate Kings Langley and spoke to the principal a lovely man named Dennis Ashford. Dennis (a very busy man as you can expect) took time out of his day to chase down the winning prize for Isla. Over several weeks of chasing things down it became apparent that over course of December there was a mix up with the prize and it was handed over to another person.
It was actually unknown how this occurred and the most likely scenario is that someone with a very similar name to Isla has been awarded the prize. Regardless of what occurred Dennis did not want to see Isla go without a bike, she bought her very own tickets for in the raffle, and believed that she had won. Dennis has found out exactly the bicycle type and colour and went out and purchased the same new bike for Isla.
This act of kindness was not expected nor requested by Isla or us and even as we tried to tell Dennis ‘its ok, there’s been mix up no problem’ he insisted that Isla deserves a new bike.
So today we met up with Dennis to collect Isla’s new bike. As you can see from the photos it’s a great bike and Isla is over the moon.
We just wanted to acknowledge Dennis and the @eldersrealestatekingslangley team for being such generous and caring people and going out of their way in this busy busy world to make our little Isla’s day. Thanks again.
